This week first and second graders are spending their summer school week at the "beach"! 🏖️☀️
Summer Session 2 is in full swing! First and second graders spent last week "camping". We even made s'mores in solar ovens. 😋🏕️

The Vietnam War Memorial replica is coming to Manistique on August 11th. Manistique's Band Director (Jeremy Connin) is trying to get a band together to participate in the welcoming ceremony. Lots of families are busy this time of the year, so it's proving to be a bit of a challenge to find people who are available to play at this ceremony.

Bond project update:
Asbestos abatement is finishing up by the kindergarten, first and second grade classroom, K-6 Gym and hallways. Contractors are now moving on to the rest of the K-6 building and hallways. There is no entry permitted into this part of the building at this time. Once the K-2 area is cleared to be entered other contractors will start work on new ceiling tiles and flooring in some areas.

Week 2 of Summer School! First and second graders spent the week making yummy treats! We read and wrote recipes, we measured and mixed, and then we enjoyed. 😋
First and second grade summer school kiddos spent the week exploring the ocean! They each chose an ocean animal and then researched various things about it. Their final projects were wonderful! 🐢🦈 🐙 🐬🦞🪼

READING THERAPY DOG AT THE LIBRARY
Do you have a child who is nervous about reading out loud? A great way to get them to open up is to ask them to read to a pet!
TASPL is happy to provide an opportunity for your kids to read to a certified Reading Dog for you, courtesy of Mrs. Lesa Rice.
Daisy, the friendly Reading Dog, will be at the Library on Thursday evenings during the Summer of 2023. You can book a 15 minute interval to have with Daisy, where your child can sit down and read to a perfect listener!
